50th ANNIVERSARY REUNION AT THE NATIONAL 4-H CENTER

This is partial content of a letter/e-mail sent by Francis Pressly, Brazil 4-H Peace Corp Project Director in October 2010.

**********************************************

At our last reunion in Puerto Rico we discussed plans for our 50th and there was consensus we should make plans for the event in connection with the celebration of 50 years of Peace Corps scheduled for September 2011. Some of us have had discussion about the plan so this e-mail is to set the ball in motion.

Please go to National Peace Corps Association web site and scroll down to 50th Anniversary. You will find a summary of the preliminary program that begins September 21 and ends September 25 2011. It looks like the main activities are Saturday and Sunday. I suggest we consider arriving Thursday (9/22) with program ending Sunday (9/25). This would allow time at the beginning of our stay for renewal of our friendships while at the Center. Some have already stated they want to come early or stay later. No problem.

Recently I was at the National 4-H Center for a meeting and at that time met with the Center staff to gather information necessary to make our plans. The Center has limited space available for the dates mentioned. Anyone interested in arriving early or staying later is welcome to do so. Below you will find rates at the Center. Costs are considerably more that our 10th anniversary at the Center but that is to be expected. Sure is less than staying downtown. All rooms have been upgraded and have private bath. A metro station is two miles away so we would not need to worry about parking downtown - a big headache.

The Center staff requests that all reservations, payments and communications be arranged through me. I am willing to do that but will need your full cooperation.

Contract policy quoted by the Center. "I can only place space on reserve by creating an official contract. Once sent to you a deposit of 25% will be due back within two weeks. Please note that the prices quoted do not include Maryland sales tax, currently 6%. Taxes are subject to change without notice".
